Wedding Videos have changed immensely over the past few decades. The shifts have mainly being due to the every changing consumer technology Market. The early days of Wedding Videos were mostly shot and watched back on VHS tapes (or even Betamax for some!), a true Home Video System revolution that changed the way we all watched recorded video content from our sofas forever. VHS players in the home allowed the masses to bring home and watch movies in the living room for pretty much the first time.
The next revolution was when the VHS tape became a medium onwhich Video Cameras would record directly too. This allowed Weddings to be captured on video for the masses for the first time. Costs remained fairly high until the release of miniVHS tapes (S-VHS) that allowed cameras to get even smaller (and still record at a relative quality.
VHS Tapes didn't allow for much creativity in the way of editing Wedding footage. Most "editing" of wedding videos would be done 'in camera' which basically meant the end product would not be all that much different to the original. Editing systems slowly became more available for Wedding Videographers to finally offer Titles and add music over their videos. With other smaller formats of video emerging it was progressively becoming more of an art to edit and produce special wedding videos.
VHS didn't provide fantastic picture or sound quality. Yet at the time it was amazing and changed the world forever. The VHS tape was just the beginning for the humble Wedding Video...
Soon, the biggest change of all would arrive... The Digital Revolution!
